Booking a Crematoria Funeral Singer

As with a church funeral, singing can be at the heart of a service in a crematorium, be it with hymns or songs, or both. When we are bereaved, music can be uplifting and a great source of comfort and consolation. It can also express how we feel more eloquently than words at a time when the right words can be hard to find. A song, sung by a professionally trained Funeral Singer, can create a very special atmosphere at any type of funeral. Sometimes a beautiful song, sung well at a painful time in our lives enables us to move through these thresholds in life and can bring acceptance. There are no ‘rules’ on the types of music you can choose, so feel free to discuss your choices with me and with your minister. Most families ask for a soloist to perform one or two songs, but I am very happy to sing more songs if you wish and if the duration of the service allows it.

A Guide to adding Music and Singing to a Funeral Service

ENTRANCE SONG
This can either be a song or music to gather attention or to accompany the funeral procession as it enters the crematorium, special place or hotel.

SINGING A SONG DURING THE SERVICE
Agree with your funeral celebrant at what part in the service it would be good to add a song or psalm, perhaps for reflection.

HYMNS
Leading the family and guests in hymns or singing a hymn or two as a solo. Or, you may prefer one hymn and a solo song, sung by a trained funeral singer.

DURING THE COMMITTAL
A well-chosen song or music at this delicate part of the service might add an extra dimension and help the process of saying good-bye. At this part of the funeral service is where a funeral singer often is asked to sing

RECESSIONAL
When the family and guests leave, a more uplifting song or music is often chosen to accompany them.

I can sing at various points during the Funeral; as requested.

At Funeral Singer UK we can offer a wide choice of Songs and Hymns that both help to Celebrate a Life in Song & to say Good-bye.

My Funeral Singer UK website, here, is closely linked to my sister site Celebration Songs. Several of the tabs in the Funeral Singer UK menu will take you there. Both for the testimonials, links and the clickable Funeral Singer repertoire link below.

Funeral services at crematoria are usually only 20 minutes in duration, with ten minutes taken with the entrance and exit processions. If you wish a more personalised service with music, personal tributes and readings, or you have a large number of guests attending, you should book an extended service of approximately 50 minutes. Even then it is rarely possible to include all of the singing/music listed above, plus readings, etc.

Do ask me about the exact timings for the songs and music you wish to be performed, to ensure your choices fit into the 30 minute or 50 minute time scale. In most crematoria one needs to be very punctual.

Some crematoria have an organ and organist to accompany hymns. I also have my own accompanist who can be booked through me if you wish. But I am equally happy to sing with an accomplished organist/pianist of your choice. To save money, I also have my own high-quality pre-recorded accompaniments for many songs - while some songs work best unaccompanied.
